Watching for the Morning Candace D

My Dad

July 28th, 2009

Dear Readers,

So many of you have prayed for our family and especially my dad during the past few months as his health has declined. I wanted to let you know that he passed away peacefully and quietly last night. Mother and I were at his side. We believe that he made things right with the Lord in his heart and that he is with Jesus. We are so thankful to all of you for your faithful prayers throughout our long journey!

Berry Breakfast Bowl

July 23rd, 2009

berry bowl

This has become my favorite breakfast this summer. It is so refreshing, satisfying, and healthy! It’s also really easy to throw together. No cooking required! I thought you may enjoy it too. :)

Berry Breakfast Bowl

*fresh strawberries, washed, capped, and sliced

*fresh blueberries, washed

*Plain yogurt (organic when available, or even better- homemade!)

*Pecan halves

*Liquid Stevia (I really like the Nu Naturals brand)

There are no real measurements, because everyone likes different amounts. I just put in “a little of this and a little of that” until my bowl looks complete.  I place strawberries in the bottom of a cereal-sized bowl, then blueberries, then top with yogurt, add a few drops of the Stevia extract, and top with pecan halves. And it’s ready to go with you onto the porch swing, or even into the garden!

Not only is this a yummy, delightful, filling breakfast for the hot weather that summer brings. It is also very healthy! The berries are naturally high in antioxidants which help protect your body from free radicals and all the bad stuff. The yogurt, being a cultured product is full of natural pro-biotics, nurturing the immune system and aiding with digestion. The pecans or rich in protein and a healthy source of fat. They contain over 19 vitaomins and are fiber-rich as well. Even the stevia is extracted from a beautiful green herb and though it tastes sweet, it doesn’t have the yucky effects on your body that white sugar does.

So… what better reason to have a berry bowl for breakfast today? What better season than summer?

Enjoy! :)

It's been awhile!

Precious Readers,

I trust that the new issue of WFTM has reached all of you by now.  I pray you are encouraged and affirmed in your convictions as you read it.

Remember, the next issue will focus on mothering and nurturing, and how it is our God-given nature in all seasons of life. You are welcome to send your articles, stories, poems, etc. to me on this subject anytime! There will be a wonderful treat in the next issue on this subject with a “veteran mother”. You won’t want to miss it. You can expect it sometime in the Fall, Lord willing.

I just returned from a delightful time in Tennessee, helping serve the wonderful ministry of Above Rubies. More on that later. :) I hope to get back to posting things more often for your encouragement, but things are very busy. We almost lost my dad yesterday afternoon, and he is still in no way “out of the woods”. In fact, we know that short of a miracle his time on earth is very limited. Our prayer is that he will be kept comfortable and not in pain and that he will verbally confess to us that all is well with him and Jesus. Your prayers are so very appreciated! Many blessings to all of you as you bask in Father’s love this summer, knowing that as you follow after Him in full abandon, He will reveal the amazing plans He has for you!

Love,

Candace :)
