Disturb Us, Lord

March 27th, 2010

Sometimes it takes courage to realize that we have not, in fact, dreamed too big, but too little. It takes even greater courage to move out from our paneled houses and embrace the wide-open plains, to sail the unforgiving oceans and believe that there is hope on the horizon. Great courage is needed to believe that circumstances that at this point seem impossible could be a door to a better future.

When crisis overtakes us most of us become increasingly susceptible to fear and striving as a means to control the circumstance. What is needed is to “wait for the LORD” and in the place of adoration and faith, rest and reply to the Lord, “my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope.” (Psalm 130.5) If you are faced with an obstacle that you can overcome in your strength, then what glory is there for the Lord? Just like He did for Gideon, he stacks the odds against us so that we would cease trying to figure it out with our own educated, principled minds and lean into his courage.

Consider Joseph. In as little as a day, he went from being in prison to being governor of an empire. Even in prison he dared to believe that the Lord would answer the dream in his heart. He waited, served diligently and hoped in the promise of God. He did not diminish his dream because of the circumstance, he continued to believe that God was able to bring to pass the dreams he had as a child.

Disturb us, Lord

When we are too well pleased with ourselves,

When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

WFTM #8 on it’s way to you!

March 19th, 2010

Dear precious readers,

I rejoice today that FINALLY every issue of the new WFTM has been mailed out! You should be receiving it soon if you have not already! If you live outside of the U.S., it may take a bit longer, but it is on it’s way!

I am so thankful for my sweet mother who has so kindly taken bundle after bundle to various local post offices to mail to help me out! Bless her, dear Lord!

This issue is on mothering…even in singleness and I know you will just love it! It has been a long time coming, but is going forth in God’s most perfect, ordained time! After it was completed and being sent to print, God showed me through a dear sister that though I did not know why it had taken so long for this issue to come together, He wouldn’t allow it to go out one moment sooner than He had so beautifully planned.  And to be exact, it took this lovely issue on MOTHERING precisely NINE MONTHS to be completed! :) Isn’t God amazing?! He is so absolutely present in the details of our every moment! I could see His warm smile as I sighed with relief and told Him He was welcome to take as long as He wished. :) God loves it when we are willing though we are but dust.

Do you ever watch situations in your own life “spin out of control”, or perhaps you are waiting for an event or answered prayer and you wonder what could possibly be taking God so long? Remember, dear sister, that God is in every detail of your life if you have fully surrendered it to Him! He delights in you and loves you with a perfect, eternal love. He is working all things together for your good, and in His perfect time, He will bring about His perfect plan for you! You can take it to the bank, because He cannot be unfaithful! He will not allow those who wait for Him to be ashamed (Isaiah 49).  So please be encouraged that though you may not understand, He knows the end from the beginning and is working for you even now!

In this issue, you will find an exclusive interview with Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies, practical advice for motherhood preparation, and spiritual challenges and encouragement to embrace the womanhood God gave you even now while you are yet unmarried! I pray you will be ABUNDANTLY blessed by every word and that the highest glory will be brought to God alone.

Watching for the Morning is printed and shipped solely by donations.  As the costs of printing and shipping go up, the need for donations grow. This ministry publication is offered free to all who wish to receive it. Your donations help make it possible to stay that way. Some have asked how often WFTM is sent out. It doesn’t have a set schedule, though I would love for it to at least go out quarterly. The funds available determine how often it is possible to go out. If the Holy Spirit leads you to donate to this ministry, you may click on the pay pal button on the left sidebar. My prayer is that it can always be offered with no cost, and that the generous giving of those who are blessed with more may minster to the needs of those who have less or none.

Many blessings to you as you wait for Your perfectly faithful, on-time Leader!

Love,

Candace

THE WAY OF ABRAHAM IN FAITH

March 15th, 2010
He went out, not knowing whither he went.” Hebrews 11:8

In the Old Testament, personal relationship with God showed itself in separation, and this is symbolized in the life of Abraham by his separation from his country and from his kith and kin. To day the separation is more of a mental and moral separation from the way that those who are dearest to us look at things, that is, if they have not a personal relationship with God. Jesus Christ emphasized this (see Luke 14:26).

Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One Who is leading. It is a life of Faith, not of intellect and reason, but a life of knowing Who makes us “go.” The root of faith is the knowledge of a Person, and one of the biggest snares is the idea that God is sure to lead us to success.

The final stage in the life of faith is attainment of character. There are many passing transfigurations of character; when we pray we feel the blessing of God enwrapping us and for the time being we are changed, then we get back to the ordinary days and ways and the glory vanishes. The life of faith is not a life of mounting up with wings, but a life of walking and not fainting. It is not a question of sanctification; but of something infinitely further on than sanctification, of faith that has been tried and proved and has stood the test. Abraham is not a type of sanctification, but a type of the life of faith, a tried faith built on a real God. “Abraham believed God.”
